SBRT

SBRT Treatment

Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) is an advanced radiation technique that delivers very high doses of radiation to tumors outside the brain with exceptional precision. Using sophisticated imaging and motion management systems, SBRT accurately targets the tumor while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy organs and tissues.

SBRT is typically delivered in a limited number of treatment sessions, making it a convenient and effective option for selected early-stage and localized cancers. This non-invasive approach provides outcomes comparable to surgery in appropriate cases, especially for patients who may not be suitable surgical candidates.

Conditions Commonly Treated

  • Early-stage lung cancer
  • Liver tumors
  • Spine tumors
  • Pancreatic tumors
  • Prostate cancer
  • Oligometastatic disease (limited metastases)

Key Advantages

  • High-dose precision targeting
  • Minimal radiation exposure to nearby organs
  • Fewer treatment sessions compared to conventional therapy
  • Non-invasive and painless procedure
  • Short recovery time
  • Effective tumor control with reduced side effects

Treatment Planning & Procedure

The treatment begins with detailed imaging such as CT, MRI, or PET-CT scans to accurately define the tumor and surrounding critical structures. Advanced planning software is used to design a personalized radiation plan, ensuring optimal dose delivery while protecting healthy tissues.

During each session, image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) techniques are used to verify tumor position before delivering radiation. Special positioning devices and motion control systems may be used to account for breathing-related movement, particularly in lung or abdominal tumors.

SBRT represents a modern and highly effective radiation oncology approach that combines precision, safety, and convenience to provide targeted cancer treatment with excellent outcomes.
