SRS / SRT

SRS SRT Treatment

Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and Stereotactic Radiotherapy (SRT) are highly advanced radiation techniques designed to deliver extremely precise, high-dose radiation to tumors with sub-millimeter accuracy. These techniques focus intense radiation beams directly on the tumor while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy brain or body tissues.

SRS is typically delivered in a single session, whereas SRT is given in multiple carefully planned sessions. Both approaches are non-invasive and do not require surgical incisions, making them effective alternatives to conventional surgery in selected cases.

Conditions Commonly Treated

  • Brain tumors (benign and malignant)
  • Brain metastases
  • Acoustic neuroma
  • Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs)
  • Pituitary adenomas
  • Selected spine and small body tumors

Key Advantages

  • Exceptional precision with high-dose accuracy
  • Minimal damage to surrounding healthy tissues
  • Non-invasive treatment with no surgical incision
  • Shorter treatment duration
  • Reduced hospital stay and faster recovery
  • Effective control of small and well-defined tumors

Treatment Planning & Procedure

The treatment process begins with detailed imaging using advanced CT, MRI, or PET scans to accurately map the tumor location. Specialized planning software is used to design a customized radiation plan that ensures maximum dose delivery to the target while protecting critical structures.

During treatment, patients are positioned carefully to maintain accuracy and comfort. Image-guided verification is performed to ensure precise radiation delivery. Most patients can resume normal activities shortly after the procedure.

SRS and SRT represent modern, high-precision radiation oncology solutions that provide effective tumor control with minimal side effects, offering safe and targeted treatment for complex brain and small body tumors.
